Jesse B Koehler is an actor, playwright, and collaborator based in New York City. He holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College, and has trained abroad at The Moscow Art Theatre School, and The British American Drama Academy. He received a scholarship to study at La MaMA Umbria as part of the 2016 Directors Symposium and the 2016 International Playwrights Retreat. NYC performing credits include La MaMa E.T.C., Dixon Place, New Ohio Theatre, The Collapsable Hole, and the theatre companies Immediate Medium & Theater in Asylum. His plays have been seen at SoHo Playhouse (Off-Broadway), and The Minnesota Fringe Festival. His original play "The Garden" was the highest-grossing production in SoHo Playhouse Spring 2021 LiveStream Series. He has been a member of the writing collective Page Break since 2018. Jesse was a member of The Mercury Store's 2021/22 Acting Company.
Some of Jesse’s particular theatrical joys are stories that play within magical realism, ensemble driven devising processes, and inspecting the United State's Middle Class obsession with being consistently content.
He is always looking for new work or taking very old (by homo sapien standards) texts and twisting, cutting, and turning them up every which way.
So, let's go out and make something!
